100%...Some of us do. Sadly, some do not. It's silly to worry what other people do.
I roll my own, cos its fun, I enjoy it, not for any "I'm better than you" stance.
I'd rather hear a good song by someone who used factory sounds, than silence by an elitist snob.... if you know what I mean.![]()
Being original isn't all about the sound of a given patch to put it mildly. Based on that pathetic EDM "logic," nobody was original before about 1960. "Oh Mr Coltrane, you're just using a standard sax sound, how unoriginal."![]()
I think it's great if people want to try and create a "new sound" - but musical quality isn't as much about that as it is what you do with it. For ex. mindless repetition of a few chords over and over (and over...and over..and......) isn't it.
I think Seafire and you nailed it, this position of “only my way of doing music is the right one", this is a mix of snobism and broken logic.
On the other hand, i also find interesting electronic music with "mindless repetitive chords" but an heavy work on the texture of the sound. Take Paul Kalkbrenner for example.
At the end musically is a mix of tension and release and you can achieve that in different way.
(I know you weren't saying the contrary but just illustrating your point).
