Oh wait ... aren't there note expressions in VST3? Oh, surprise there are.
People don't know, Devs of DAWs and Plugins ignore it. Now people think, it's a new invention. It's in VST3 since version 3.5. I think this is incredibly funny!!!
Of course, anyone paying attention knows that VST3 has had support for Note Expressions for a long time. But even after all this time, it is mainly a Cubase feature. And even if I used Cubase, my favorite synths, using their VST3 versions, don't support it anyway. Not many VST3 plugins do.

However, since CLAP is easy to code in and also supports Note Expressions, and assuming the CLAP to VST3 wrapper translates, more VST3 plugins will support Note Expressions in the future thanks to CLAP.

Note Expressions are separate from CLAP's support for PolyMod. PolyMod in Bitwig, with CLAP synths that support it, is one of the best features ever devised (IMO). For example, many simpler synths have fairly basic envelopes and don't have MSEG's. With PolyMod I can change the basic envelope shape of Diva, or Bazille, etc. Very useful for lots of percussion sounds.

CLAP has a number of other significant advantages over VST3.
