another odd one, if we avoided going to school for a day playing truant, we were "jacking off"Were those the strawberry mini milk lollies? I think I remember those, but not that name. I'm damned if I can remember any of the terms for Down There we must've used.do you remember "strawberry mivvi" ice lollies? And of course..Oh I see.
There's always the Revolting Cocks though:And Throbbing Gristle! The band's name came from an incident that took place in a Chicago bar; according to van Acker and Jourgensen, the band was trying out "insulting French expressions" on a waiter, ordering something they said meant "revolting cock" which led the waiter to say, "You are revolting cocks!"
Best band name, ever.

Throbbing Gristle is quite a local term I remember reading, so I wonder if they got away with it. Music probably didn't help in that respect though...
(And all the COUM stuff)
they used to make us giggle, as a mivvi was a foo foo here.
or my favourite "monkey do".
"show us your monkey do!" was a popular phrase, shouted at girls by a certain type of male. usually a young builder.
But it is making me think of the sheer amount of local terms and words that I don't use now - mainly cause it would be like speaking another language round these parts. Although I was watching Ali & Ava the other night and one of the characters says goreh charva which took me back (might've been chav as it's set in wessie land)
