I’ve only had Ibanez GIO type Floating tremelos but even they were really annoying to try to float and balance for tuning and string changes.Yup, you have to tune, tune, tune until it's right and then lock it in place. At which point you can pretty much beat on it for a month or so before it goes out.
I don't think there's any real shortcuts.
I couldn’t be dealing with the setup time and all the tweaking of a proper Floyd Rose I’d have to send to a guitar tech for that. Also in a gig scenario I’ve had a lead guitarist break a string and then guitar = unplayable. Is this still the case ?
A month of stable tuning under a beating is a big “pro” to it though wasn’t aware of that. I have a heavy right hand hammer attack I’m always fine tuning when playing.
still keen to learn how to play that EVH style someday and make all those cool horse-whinnies harmonics etc.would love to play all that stuff.
Is there any other option for that other than a FR style locking Tremelo ?? Does that new EverTune system offer that somehow.. I’ve heard of the StayTrem system also.
