I'm very confused about this, especially in my current situation:The eq confuses me honestly. All bands have 4 tone controls, but I never quite know what I actually tweak. For example, if I have a band from 200-1000hz, where are the splits or center frequencies for the 4 tone controls?
The manual says:.... which is not very precise imho. The Tone controls adjust the bass, mid, treble and presence of the processed band signal, allowing you to tweak the harmonics generated by the distortion algorithm.
I have a heavily-DIY mix from my friend that I'm mastering. There is way too much bass in it, especially the sub-bass info. But you can't hear the bass at all in phone speakers since it's mostly sub. I want to add upper harmonics from just the bass so it can be heard on the phone speakers, but I don't really wanna saturate all the other instruments, and I definitely don't want to add more sub info...
In Saturn, if I saturate only the sub-bass and bass info (<1311Hz), then with the Tone Controls EQ completely remove the "Band 1 Bass" and keep the other 3 bands at neutral or raise them, does that mean I'm adding harmonics in the mids and highs of the entire track that are "triggered" by only the <131Hz frequencies in the chosen area that is being saturated?
Does that effectively mean no saturation is being triggered by above 131Hz (excluding crossover)? Because this seems like my only option unless I want to saturate the mids of the entire track, which includes the mids-heavy instruments like guitars and vox (which I don't want).
