Well, I could have guessed that it would be all about you and not about music. I'm the other way around, it is, for me, 100% about the music and I'll put up with whatever shit I have to if it makes the result better.Again, any opinions on my music takes no priority over me liking them. *I* come first. After *i* like it, I give it to the vocalists and they can have their way with the songs. After that, well....nothing else really matters now does it?
So why do it, if it doesn't matter and it wasn't any good? If it's all about you, why not do something else? And i never really did care for my output for a loooong time.
Hardly. I realise you wouldn't be used to thinking about anyone else but I know how hard it is to find really good music anywhere these days, so promoting what we do is not for our benefit, it's for the benefit of like-minded people who are struggling to find decent music as much as we do. If we wanted people to like us, we wouldn't be making the kind of music we make. What I want is for the music I love to have the same level of popularity it had 30-40 years ago, so that more and more people would have exposure to it. It doesn't have to be our music, it's the genre that matters to me.Versus you and most artists out there who are unhappy with your output and therefore need feedback. You need whatever bit of assuramce because you are dissatisfied in some way shape and form with what's been written.
No, that's the arse-end up view because it won't be displayed efficiently and you won't be able to go in and adjust anything without opening a window on top of what you are looking at.Bottom line whatever is avaialble on the mixer strip, can be displayed on the track in the arrangement view.
Of course not, it's a stupid idea. That's why they all have an Inspector window, which is a really, really inefficient way to show a whole lot of things out of context that it might otherwise be too hard to show elsewhere. I think it's a terrible kludge and I never use it but that seems to be the popular way for most people to do stuff. Traktion tried to put it all in one view but it was really clunky. I doubt that Reaper does it any better. Are you f**king telling me yo can't do this with Cubase? Logic? Pro f**king Tools??? Studio 1?
Look at the screenshot I provided. You can take in the whole project at a glance. If you look closely at the master channel, you can see how hard the limiter is working without opening its GUI window (the little yellow line is dynamic). You can see what your output's frequency spectrum is like without opening a window and you can adjust the important parameters on your effects without opening a GUI window, either.. It's all there and you can take it in with a glance.
My god all the damn money spent and you get crap. For 60 bucks, sure you may get an ugly DAW but it's quite capable.
I don't have to switch, the mixer is always visible, as it is the centre of my workflow. As I said, once I've got an arrangement happening, the only use for the Arrangement window is to see where the song is up to. A thumbnail is all it needs to be, otherwise it's a huge waste of space.Ok this is sounding too naive now. Are you telling me you cannot see your levels and pan aettings on a loaded track with your app?? You have to switch to a mixer view???
How f**king dumb are you? You can see from my screenshot that there is zero flipping between views. Everything I need while I am working is there all the time. IOk then. Enjoy flip flopping between views.
How would I know, you've not been thoughtful enough to provide a screenshot of your set-up. Maybe it's perfect, exactly what I've been looking for?I've got everything I need conveniently laid out on one view. I know i know, now you'll tell me it's rubbish it's wrong and it's not how you do it and my music sucks and yachts are great for eating tuna sandwhiches. Whatever.
I mostly manage without automation, I prefer to use things like velocity modulation, which I set up as I go, in the piano roll. In fact, if I automate anything, it's usually levels in the mixer, which is more accurate if I use the Mixer, with nice, long fader throws. But you're acting like it's a binary choice when it isn't.Rubbish. When I mix I jump to different song positions. I have markers setup. Many times i setup automations and the arrangement view is needed again.
I I have the mixer and arrangement views open together, there is no need to chose between one and the other. That's what makes it work.Switching between the mixer and arrangement was getting old fast.
But then the lightning bulb flashed and I realized i didn't have to switch views. In fact the mixer is a waste of time.
It's definitely there, I just opened it in a new tab without any problems. I uploaded it to KVR so everyone should be able to see it. See if this link works - download/file.php?id=64335If you are trying to post an image, it's not showing up. At least for me it's not.
I would be very keen to see a screenshot of your set-up. If it works, it could be a game-changer for me. It's just that my experience with things like Traktion leads me to believe that it won't be.
