Now, by the strictest definition I know what a preamp or boost pedal is, and more or less how to use them. I'm getting a bit confused by what is called boost and preamp pedals though, especially some of the preamp pedals out there. Preamp pedals which are supposed to emulate different amps, like for example the TC Electronic V550 or Marshall JCM 900 Amp Series. And what's the difference between these and for example the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe Overdrive Pedal? The latter seems as much as a preamp in a pedal to me as the other two. Am I missing something or are the term preamp used a bit loose these days?
